Dog First Aid

Basic first aid for your canine companion

This course is run by Dog First Aid and is designed to empower dog owners and dog professionals with the knowledge and confidence to deal with situations that require basic first aid for their canine companions in a range of emergency scenarios.

The course will cover:

  • The role of a first aider and legal compliance

  • The foundations

  • What to look for in an emergency

  • How to take your dog's vitals - pulse, breathing rate and temperature

  • CPR

  • Seizures

  • Bleeding

  • Canine shock

  • Gastric dilatation volvulus

  • Burns and scalds

  • Toxic ingestion

  • Heat stroke

  • Choking

  • Pet first aid kits

Once completed, participants will receive a CPD certificate of attendance.

The course will last 4 hours and will involve both fun, easy but informative theoretical and practical input/activities.  Refreshments are not provided so please bring your own.

Please do not bring your dogs. It is 4 hours long and a course designed to help you practice things like CPR (which cannot be practiced on a healthy dog - we’ll be using dummy dogs for this)!
